GWCT Big Farmland Bird Count Survey

Since 2016, Agrantec and the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust (GWCT) have worked together to transform their annual Big Farmland Bird Count Survey. This year, the survey is being sponsored by National Farmers Union (NFU).

The Big Farmland Bird Count (BFBC) is a survey carried out “to highlight the good work done by farmers and gamekeepers in helping to reverse the decline in farmland bird numbers.” The organisation recognised the need to move to a paperless system and saw opportunity in NotaZone’s functionality.

A new platform, accessible via tablets and phones, was created using NotaZone’s data management and cloud technology. It enables, the GWCT team and respondents to upload and store data centrally, and easily analyse the information collected. This includes effortlessly uploading pictures and documents; and viewing past counts and comparisons year-on-year.

Nestlé Sustainability Project with First Milk

Agrantec began working on the data capture and reporting tool for Nestlé’s Sustainable Farming project in 2016. The project involved working with the team at Nestlé, their partners, First Milk and their farmers spread across Scotland and Northern England. The team wanted a platform that enabled farmers to easily identify and record environmental goals and tasks; encouraging collaboration between farms to achieve common goals.

A new platform was built on NotaZone, allowing Nestlé and First Milk’s team and the farmers to have customised dashboards. Farmers can upload evidence and monitor their progress while the team can view each farms progress throughout the year, lending support where needed. The success and simplicity of the recording system empowered farmers to hit the ground running from the first year, with only two support queries recorded.
